Surviving
NYFW in 3 Days
How
To Attend NYFW
Hi Readers,
Welcome back to another post! Today we are talking
about how to survive NYFW and how you can attend shows. This was my first year
attending NYFW and I can’t believe I waited this long to attend. This year I was determined to go and I made
it my mission to attend as many shows as I could. Now before I get into how to
attend the shows I want to be honest and say I did wait until the last minute
to do my research. So I highly recommend if you do decide to attend NYFW to
start at least 3 months before. If I had started a lot earlier I would have
probably been invited to a lot more shows.
Pitching
yourself to designers and brands
If you aren’t a celebrity or someone famous your
chances of getting front row seats to a big fashion is very low. The truth of
the matter is that a lot of the big name events are invite only. However there
is a way around this if you have the right pitch! If you are a fashion blogger
or just all around fashion lover you want to create an email pitching yourself
to shows you would like to attend. You want to make sure you talk about who you
are, what you do in the fashion world, and why you feel you should attend. If
you’re a blogger like me you should have a media kit already showcasing you social
media platforms and stats, so you want to make sure you’re including that in
your email. Remember to make it short, sweet, and to the point.
How to get
in contact with designers and brands
So before you send your emails out you have to know
who you are sending it to right. You have to do your research now. So let’s say
you want to attend the Kate Spade showcase, the first thing you need to do is
find there media or pr email address. I simply type into Google just that and
it pops up. Once I pull all the designers and brands I would like to attend
shows for I send out an email to each one. Don’t be discouraged if you get No’s
or no response. A lot of people are sending them emails so sometimes it’s not
about you they just don’t have any more slots open.
Stay At
Hotels For Free
The same way you pitch to designers and brands is the
same way you pitch to hotels. If you’re a blogger like me you will most likely
be blogging your entire stay which includes the hotel you will be in. Hotels
love when you tag them and post during your stay because it brings them
business. So when I pitch to them I highlight that during my stay I would be
blogging and posting while I am in your hotel. So be sure to include what you
can do for the hotel while you are visiting.
Sign Up for
NYFW
Signing up on the official website will help keep you
update to date on all the fashion shows and where they will be hosted. It’s a
great way to get an idea of where to start.
Pop Up
Shops
A lot of stores and big brands come to New York
during fashiobn week to showcase there new collections in local stores and they
always invite people to come and shop for discounted prices or for free if you
post the event on social media. Simply type in stores or brands you know or
search pop up shops to see who previously did one the year before so you know
who to contact to attend the next year,
